How it started, why it matters

Local Connections began with a simple idea:
What if every small town had an easier way to connect?

We saw the disconnect happening across rural communities — great people doing great work, but missing opportunities to collaborate, grow, and support one another. There were too many silos, too much burnout, and not enough shared tools or visibility.

So we built Local Connections.

What started as a simple community project has grown into a nonprofit network, created by locals, for locals, to help bridge the gaps between businesses, organizations, service providers, volunteers, and events.

This isn't just a directory. It’s a movement — one that believes thriving communities are built through shared knowledge, open doors, and real relationships.

We’re here to shine a light on what’s already working, fill in the gaps where help is needed, and make it easier for people to find each other and move forward, together.
